75th Anniversary Legacy Campaign
In 2009, as the Metropolitan Planning Council celebrates our 75th anniversary, we also relocated to the historic Marquette Building in the Loop. This is the year we celebrate the past—our founders and long-time Board members, their vision and accomplishments—and anticipate a future filled with challenges and great opportunities. With new administrations in both Springfield and Washington and the public’s attention focused on our key issues—the intersection of housing, transportation, sustainable growth—now is a significant moment for action.
To reflect on our past while seizing the future, we are commemorating our anniversary through the 75th Anniversary Legacy Campaign.
Honor the Past
The Legacy Campaign recognizes a heritage of 75 years of MPC accomplishments, the foresight of our founders, dedication of our volunteers, and impact of our programs.
Look to the Future
MPC’s 75th Anniversary is a call to “step up” to the opportunities and challenges before us, and a reminder that we need to set the stage now for a future of enlightened leadership on the critical issues that face our region. In the face of the housing and mortgage crises, a growing region stressed by energy and environmental limits, traffic congestion (rail and road) and a threatened water supply, the need has never been greater for increased incentives to reward and encourage coordinated regional investments. With a new federal administration that wants to be innovative in addressing regional challenges and a new governor and a crisis-driven urgency in Springfield to work toward solutions, MPC is positioned to advocate for policies and implement projects that will make this region more competitive, equitable and livable. MPC’s value is the same as it was 75 years ago and includes its ability to mobilize our leaders and their expertise and resources to achieve these outcomes.
The Goal
Through the Legacy Campaign, MPC seeks to raise $1 million in additional annual operating and program support through gifts paid over three to five years. Donors can direct their gifts to a program or designate them for general operations.
