MPC launches Logan Square Corridor Development Initiative

This summer, at the invitation of Ald. Rey Colón (35th Ward), the Metropolitan Planning Council is leading a Corridor Development Initiative (CDI) exercise in the Logan Square neighborhood.  CDI is a participatory planning process that engages residents in development before it happens.  Through a series of three community meetings, residents work with architects and developers to learn about the financing, design, and planning process and create a set of development priorities for their neighborhood.  

The Logan Square meetings, to be held on July 22, Aug. 5, and Aug. 26, will ask residents to help Ald. Colón and community leaders understand the type of buildings, businesses, housing, and open space they want to see along Milwaukee Avenue.  Through a visioning and block building exercise, residents will be able to “build” the type of development they would like to see along the corridor and, with the help of architects and developers, explore how their ideas might pan out visually and financially.  Residents will be better prepared to understand development proposals by establishing a set of principles that will help guide future development along Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square.   

The meetings will be held:

Wednesday, July 22, 6:30-8:00 pm 

Wednesday, August 5, 6:30-8:30 pm

Wednesday, August 26, 6:30-8:00 pm

All meetings will be held at Logandale School, 3212 W. George.
