Reconnecting Neighborhoods awarded APA's Illinois chapter's Strategic Plan Award

On October 15th, the APA's Illinois Chapter presented its coveted Strategic Plan Award to the City of Chicago for Reconnecting Neighborhoods, a community-led plan to improve the livability of three Chicago neighborhoods - the Near West, Mid-South, and Near North - through improved transportation, pedestrian, and retail ammenities around Chicago Housing Authroity Plan for Transformation developments. The award was presented at the Chicago Plan Commission meeting, where just in July, that body formally adopted the Reconnecting Neighborhoods Plan. MPC is a proud partner of this initiative, which is now moving into the implementation phase.

The award was presented by Karen Stonehouse, APA-IL Chapter president to Benet Haller, director of urban design and planning for the City of Chicago. Phillip Hanegraaf, associate vice president of HNTB Corporation, and Emily Tapia Lopez, MPC associate provided testimony of support as project partners.
