Get ready to ride with Chicago's updated bike map

Chicagoland bicyclists now have the most up-to-date riding and route information thanks to the release of the 5th Edition Chicagoland Bike Map, produced by the Active Transportation Alliance, one of MPC's many Chicago-area partners.

The new edition features:

  • Expanded coverage to the north up to Lake Geneva and south all the way to the Midewin Prairie in Grundy County
  • More trail and on-street biking networks for you to explore
  • Icons for all the bike shops in the region
  • Historic military sites

You can get your free copy of the Chicagoland Bike Map by becoming a member of Active Trans. Maps are also available online for $10 each.

The map is the result of more than 100 volunteers investigating and documenting new trails, existing road conditions, and the new territory that the map covers.  A series of public meetings that gathered input from residents and bicyclists also informed the update.

So get your tune-up, grab your helmit, and get out there and start riding today!

Bicycle maps rock! Here in New York City they hand them out for free. Mayor Daley is supposed to be a big booster of bicycles: maybe he'll show some love for your map distribution?

Daniel -- The city does fund a city-only map they give away for free. This map is a seven-county region map, covering trails and routes outside the city.
