Dump the Pump, Bike to Work or take a stroll -- and win!

Many of you may not know this about MPC staffers but we are one competitive bunch! We’ve been aggressively working to encourage everyone in the office to “Bike to Work” this week and help win some bragging rights among our fellow non-profit friends.  Rumor is there are more than 400 businesses competing to be the greenest, cleanest, healthiest company in Chicagoland. Since riding my bicycle, I haven’t felt as guilty when ordering dessert for lunch with that extra cash I’ve been able to save. Barring a little rain, I’ve been able to ride my bicycle every day this week exploring new paths, discovering new corners of my neighborhood, and having a lot of fun along the way.

Today also happens to be National Dump the Pump Day, when millions of people across the country are promising to take transit, bike, or walk instead of drive. Not only does this save you money, help alleviate bumper-to-bumper traffic, and clean up our environment, but many Chicago-area museums and attractions are giving participants a chance to win tickets or passes just for taking the pledge to leave their cars parked at home.

Whether you take a stroll to the market, ride your bike to work, or take the train to catch a baseball game, there’s no better way to enjoy a Chicago summer than giving yourself a break from traffic!

Awesome idea! Wish more companies were as forward thinking back in the UK.
