Chicago Public Schools seeks partner for Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) counseling services

The Chicago Board of Education has launched a new down payment assistance program to help Chicago Public Schools’ and City Colleges’ teachers purchase homes within the City of Chicago. Called Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH), the program is being run through the city’s Teachers Housing Resource Center and began in April 2005. During the first five months of operation, 83 teachers were able to buy homes with the down payment assistance, while over 120 CPS employees took advantage of the home ownership counseling that is offered in conjunction with the program. MPC is working as an advisor to the Teachers Resource Center to ensure that the program also helps teachers take advantage of other housing opportunities beyond the Board’s down payment assistance, including the matching funds for employees and the Illinois Affordable Housing Tax Credit.

Because the program has already placed more homeowners than any other program in the region by two to one, and is one of the largest employers in the city, the Board of Education is inviting proposals for Employer-Assisted Housing (EAH) Administrative and Housing Counseling.

The Request for Proposal can be downloaded from the Board’s Web Site at or picked-up from the Department of Procurement and Contracts, Bureau of Purchasing, at 125 S. Clark St., 10th Floor, Chicago, Ill., Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. There will be a pre-bid conference on Tues., Nov. 8, 2005. at 10:00 a.m. at the Chicago Public Schools Headquarters, 125 S. Clark St., 10th Floor Conference Room A, Chicago, Ill.
