Mission

Since 1934, the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) has been dedicated to shaping a more sustainable and prosperous greater Chicago region. As an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, MPC serves communities and residents by developing, promoting and implementing solutions for sound regional growth.

Housing & Community Development

Advances MPC's long-term goal of equity of opportunity by focusing on policy development and technical assistance related to housing affordability and balanced community and economic development.

Regional Planning & Investments

Addresses the economically competitive aspect of MPC's mission, focusing on policy development, technical assistance, and research related to coordinated planning, financing and investment tools, and public and private capital.

Sensible Growth

Advances the sustainability component of MPC's mission by providing direct assistance to develop and test policies relating to land use, planning, and natural resources, particularly water.
