How widespread are water affordability challenges in our region? How can we identify water burdened customers? How can we develop water rates and targeted assistance to meet ratepayers' needs? 

For answers to these important questions and more, join us for the first session of this year's virtual Drinking Water 1-2-3 Academy, featuring:

Keynote remarks on the need to build partnerships and identify solutions in order to tackle affordability by:

  • Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, State Representative, Illinois District 19

A presentation on water affordability trends and themes as they relate to the national and regional context by:

  • Prof. Janice Beecher, Director, Institute of Public Utilities, Michigan State University

A moderated panel conversation featuring insights into water affordability challenges and solutions from the public, private, and non-profit sector by:

  • Susan M. Crosby, Esq., Deputy Revenue Commissioner for Water, City of Philadelphia Department of Revenue
  • Anthena Gore, Project Manager of Community Planning, Elevate
  • Zachary Green, Senior Consultant, Raftelis Financial Consulting, Inc.

Panel moderator: Cecilia Reyes, Investigative Reporter, Chicago Tribune

A presentation on the IWASSA Water Ambassador Program by:

  • Paul D. May, P.E., Executive Director, Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency (NSMJAWA).
