Network 21: Quality Schools for Stronger Communities to discuss education reform in Illinois at town hall
meetings in Elgin and Peoria.
Sen. Steve Rauschenberger (R-Elgin) presented his solutions to Illinois' education
crisis at a meeting in Elgin on March 3, 2003. Community members were invited to
respond. Representatives Michael Smith (D-Canton) and Ricca Slone (D-Peoria) will do the same at
a town hall meeting in Peoria on March 10. MPC President MarySue Barrett
presented Network 21's education reform agenda, which includes school funding increases, property
tax relief, school facilities improvements, annual student achievement assessments,
and better support for teachers and early childhood
education.

The next meeting will be Monday, March 10, 2003 at the Peoria County Farm
Bureau, 1716 N. University in Peoria.
