Elementary and secondary education issues were back in the Capitol spotlight last week.
First was the initial meeting of a
bipartisan legislative education caucus that included representatives, senators,
and many groups with education interests. Rep. Robert Pritchard (R-Sycamore) is
spearheading the caucus.
Later the same day during a Capitol press conference
organized by the A+ Illinois
education coalition, whose
membership includes Illinois Farm Bureau, several legislators said 2007 will be
the year to tackle education problems.
