Education returns to forefront, new ed caucus seeks common ground

Elementary and secondary education issues were back in the Capitol spotlight last week.

First was the initial meeting of a bipartisan legislative education caucus that included representatives, senators, and many groups with education interests. Rep. Robert Pritchard (R-Sycamore) is spearheading the caucus.

Later the same day during a Capitol press conference organized by the A+ Illinois education coalition, whose membership includes Illinois Farm Bureau, several legislators said 2007 will be the year to tackle education problems.
