Mapping out the future with MPC's Garfield Boulevard mapping tool

The City of Chicago's Garfield Boulevard corridor—including 55th Street—provides an essential connection between the lakefront and Midway Airport, running through the neighborhoods of Hyde Park, Washington Park, Gage Park and West Elsdon. With between 12,000 and 15,000 bus riders traveling the route daily and excellent access to CTA 'L' and Metra rail stations, the route has plenty of potential for growth and investment with transit-oriented development.

MPC's new Garfield Boulevard mapping tool (similar to our Ashland Avenue map) offers the ability to explore the corridor. Users can view zoning, land use, TIFs, vacant parcels, population, income and home values superimposed on a map of the corridor to help them to understand the current characteristics of the area.
