Board member Olga Camargo, Managing Partner at Toroso Investments, LLC was sworn in June 20th, to sit on Chicago’s Public Building Commission. She already serves on Chicago’s Plan Commission and is Chair of the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement. (HACE)

Board member Juan G. Moreno, President of JGMA, Ltd., is designing a building for non-profits in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood, including Esperanza Health, Mujeres Latinas, and Sinai Health System. Moreno recently spoke on WGN-TV’s Adelante Chicago, discussing his bold plans for the 47th and California site.

Board member Bernard Loyd, President of Urban Juncture, Inc., has invested over $1 million of his own money to reshape the intersection of Prairie Avenue and 51st in Bronzeville. His efforts were profiled recently in the Chicago Tribune and feature an incubator, rooftop farm, community garden, bike repair shop, and the delicious Jerk Shack restaurant.

Board member Smita Shah, President & CEO of SPANN Tech Inc., served as keynote speaker for the annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in Chicago, and received the distinguished leadership award.

Board member Melissa Y. Washington, Vice President, External & Large Customer Solutions, ComEd, was profiled in an article by the Chicago Defender on her career, family and community. In Washington’s current role, as one of ComEd’s top senior executives, she reflects on being a community liaison for the company and for youths. “What I try to do is get out into the community, understand who is in the community and hear firsthand what’s going on,” Washington said in the article.

Board Member Mary K. Ludgin, Director of Global Investment Research at Heitman LLC, was named Chair of the Urban Land Institute Chicago District Council last month.

Board member Carol Ross Barney, the Founder & President of Ross Barney Architects Inc., and co-designer of Chicago’s Riverwalk, received the Lifetime Achievement Award last month from the American Institute of Architects. (AIA Chicago)

Board member Jessica Droste Yagan, the CEO of Impact Engine, closed a $10 million venture fund in June. Impact Engine has invested in product-based innovation like Think OERCA.

Board member King Harris, the Chairman of Harris Holdings Inc., is in his first term as Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) Chair, where he’s spearheading a new focus on supportive housing.

The American Writers Museum recently opened in Chicago, and Board member Hill Hammock, the Chairman of Chicago Deferred Exchange Company, is the co-chairman of the museum's board of directors, and sees the museum as serving as a "long overdue" place to honor Chicago's literary history while encouraging emerging writers.
