The Calumet region is rich with opportunities, ideas and momentum on improved stormwater management, green infrastructure, habitat restoration and recreational access to area waterways. A timely infusion of new funding or technical assistance may be all that is needed to take great ideas — a new boat launch, wetland basin or green roof — and make them reality.

This workshop will present timely and useful information on funding programs such as the new Chi-Cal Rivers FundSustain our Great Lakes and Illinois Green Infrastructure Grant, as well as GIS tools and other technical support that can help anyone, whether they represent a unit of local government, neighborhood organization, watershed planning group, paddling club, birding society, engineering firm or landscape architect execute their vision for improving ecology, hydrology and quality of life in the Calumet region.

Featured speakers include:

Networking opportunities and an optional tour of the Blue Island riverfront will follow the workshop.

Registration capped at 125 for this workshop.  This workshop is free, but seating is limited, so you must register. Prospective applicants include units of government, watershed planning groups, nonprofit organizations, businesses, individuals and other entities eligible to receive state funds. Indiana stakeholders are encouraged to attend as they may be eligible for funding through the Chi-Cal Rivers Fund and Sustain our Great Lakes, as well as for assistance through the South Suburban GIS Consortium.
